Walking and Listening Go Together

John makes strong statements in today’s section, yet in truth, the apostle writes the most loving words he could possibly write. Our Christian walk is a warzone. Evil spirits working through false prophets propagate lies unceasingly…and with great success, for the world is listening to them. Christianity, however, is not spiritual gullibility; rather, we have received a clear, doctrinal standard to cut through such deceit: Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, and He is God the Son. We are from God. Therefore, as we walk with Jesus, we listen to John and the other biblical witnesses concerning Him. Those who belong to the world reject the testimony we have in Scripture. One’s response to Scripture, then, reveals which spirit they are following/listening and walking to: either the Spirit of truth or the spirit of error.
