Send Me

JFK challenged Americans to do more than consume; he challenged us to contribute. Can you imagine how lives might be changed if instead of asking God to do something for us, we dared to ask God to use us on His behalf? Overcome by the LORD’s transcendance and forgiveness, Isaiah responds, “Send me. Use me. I’m all Yours. Available. On call. Standing by to help someone, serve someone, tell someone, give to someone.” Jesus says He has sent us (i.e., the church is apostolic or “sent” as we confess in the creed). Are you afraid to pray “send me” for fear of where He might send you or what He might ask you to do? He could send you to Africa, but more likely He’ll invite you to be His missionary at work, to your neighbor, to friend at gym, etc. How does Isaiah’s vision help our reservations to pray this dangerous prayer?
