Serve in the School
While it is our excellent faculty and staff who provide an excellent, Christian education to the 500+ students in our day school, volunteers support that education in many ways. Although many of those volunteers are parents, we encourage all who have a heart for children and youth to get involved as day school volunteers.
These Day School ministries have openings for new volunteers:
Athletics, Asst. Coaches (PROT) – Our after-school sports programs in fall, winter and spring are led by coaches, who receive a stipend, with the help of volunteer assistant coaches.
Athletics, Tournaments (INF, YTH) – These one or two events are a lot of fun, and involve a lot of volunteers in the areas of concessions, security, set up and clean up.
Athletics, Booster Club – Parents of children in after-school sports are automatically members of the Booster club, but others who want to support youth athletics are welcome to join in, too!
Book Fair (ST) – Volunteers help staff our annual book fair.
Classroom Volunteer (PROT) – Volunteers support teachers by helping with projects, reading to students, listening to students read, and more.
Community Threads (YTH) is an area thrift store with a history of supporting St. Peter School. Volunteers work in 3-hour shifts as cashiers, greeters, organizers, pricers, electronics testers and more!
Fine Arts (ST )– Volunteers fill both skilled and unskilled roles in our school drama productions. They also support concerts, Fine Art night, and other events.
Grandparents Day (ST) – A half day in April when over 375 grandparents visit our campus. Volunteers help as parking lot attendants, direction guides, greeters, refreshment servers, and more.
Library Aide (PROT) – Volunteers repair books, shelve books, and check books in and out for the students during the school day.
PTL Board – Members of the PTL board provide support in these areas: special events, fundraising, leadership, publicity, volunteer coordinator, and special projects.
Room Parent – Room parents support the classroom teacher with classroom parties, staff appreciation events, and in other ways as requested by the teacher.
School Care Ministry - As a team our first priority is praying for the children, their families, and our school staff once a week at a Mom’s In Touch prayer time. In addition, we stay in touch with the teachers to meet the needs of families/staff. This may involve meals, a word of encouragement, or whatever their needs may be. We also are the team that welcomes new families and helps answer their questions.
Additional Day School ministries:
Day School Advisory Council – This group provides advisory input, as well as personal support, to the principal.
Alumni Association Leader – If you’re an alumnus of St. Peter, you can help plan and implement alumni events and keep records so that the legacy of a Christian education is celebrated and encouraged.
