Meant to Confess
To be a Christian is to be a confessor. It’s a recurring Biblical theme (e.g., Rom 10:9-10; 2 Cor 4:13; 1 Jn 4:13-15, etc.). Christians believe in Jesus, and because they believe, they can’t help but speak of Him before the world. In our gospel text, as Jesus made His way toward Jerusalem on a colt, “the whole multitude of His disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen” (v37). Some of the Pharisees in the crowd asked Jesus to rebuke His disciples, but Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out!” And such confessing from the hearts and lips of believers will never ever end (e.g., Phil 2:9-11)!
