Immanuel (God With Us)
An angel of the LORD appeared to Joseph and said of his betrothed (Mary): “She will bear a son, and you will call His name Jesus because He will save His people from their sins…[as] the LORD spoke through the prophet: ‘The virgin…will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel – which means, God with us.” Immanuel is one of the most comforting names of Jesus. When our sins made it impossible for us to come to Him, God came to us in full human form to be our substitute under the penalty of sin and death. In Jesus we see how extreme God’s love for us is. Jesus did not shed the name Immanuel after His cross, resurrection, and ascension, He is still your Immanuel. Hold on to this whenever you feel discouraged, abandoned, tempted, anxious, hardpressed, overwhelmed, fearful, or at a crossroad...Jesus is Immanuel!
