Unpacking the Magi

Last but not least to the Christmas nativity are Magi from the east who follow Jesus’ star to Jerusalem and ask for the whereabouts of the newborn King that they might worship Him. Though greatly troubled, experts in the Torah point the magi to Bethlehem as His birth place (a 6-mile journey south from Jerusalem). Again the star leads them to the place where the Child is, and they enter the house and fall down, worship Jesus (up to 2 yrs old now), and present Him with costly gifts. What an epiphany, not just for the magi but for the world, a beautiful foreshadow of Jesus-worship by all nations (Matt 28:19; Rom 1:5; Phil 2:9-11; Rev 7:9-10; 21:24). His Word still tells us where to find and worship the King.
