The resurrection of Jesus Christ changes everything! We can call such change transformation. In the Fourth Gospel, long before Easter morning, we see powerful rays of real-life transformation breaking through human clouds of hurt, sickness, disappointment, loss, and especially unbelief. We read story after story of people who encounter Jesus, and Jesus does what only Jesus does: He changes the trajectory of their present and future. One of the many whom Jesus radically transformed was His friend Lazarus; but not just Lazarus, his sisters, the disciples – even the grieving community who were present – experienced Jesus’ life-altering (death-defying) transformation too!
Regardless of age, education, status, past baggage, or functionality, Jesus lives and continues His work of transformation among us today. What kind of transformation can we expect? True, authentic life-transformation that only He can give. For these next 8 weeks, we will look intently at John chapters 11-12; there we see the transformation we so desperately need and the Savior who so graciously gives.
