GO and SERVE!
Do you feel God is calling you to do something special in your life this summer? Do you have a heart for the lost or forgotten? If the answer is yes, please start praying about the awesome opportunity our congregation has to go and serve in Tanzania this summer. Our mission partner, MOST Ministries informed us of an important mission crisis that is occurring in Africa. Although the Ebola outbreak is occurring in West Africa, mission teams around the world are dropping out of mission fields that are SAFE and HEALTHY areas for missionaries to serve.
St. Peter has a heart for these areas. We are excited to serve in an area, currently underserved. Team members will be working with children who suffer from albinism. In African countries, “Albino” children are often considered a curse and are rejected by society. They are ostracized in their own neighborhoods, schools, and even in their homes. We will be working with these children, providing them with the hope and esteem that only God can give, and also conducting eyeglass clinics. Members of this team will break into small groups (as they are comfortable) and visit homes with an evangelist from the Tanzanian church. As Islam is growing Tanzania, the Lutheran church is trying to reach as many homes as possible to present the Gospel message. In 2011, forty-four people were baptized by MOST ministries team members who decided to journey with the pastor.
This trip includes a two-day safari and tour of Africa. The dates for the trip are June 18th-30th. The estimated cost of the trip is $3,500, but the trip cost is decreased from funds received at Trivia Night.
