Throughout the season of Advent, our weekend worship services will focus on preparing for the Birth of Jesus. In addition to beloved Advent readings and songs, we will join along with thousands of other churches in a movement called the “Advent Conspiracy.” This emphasis on turning away from consumerism and back to the true meaning of the season will challenge and encourage us all!
On Saturday, December 21, we will offer a new twist on our annual Live Nativity tradition. Starting with our 5:00 pm worship service, we will focus on how God has demonstrated His love for us in sending us Jesus. When worship is over, we will gather outside around the animals for a Live Nativity presentation, starting around 6:00 pm. Fed by God’s Word and Sacrament and encouraged by this fresh reminder of the Christmas story, we will then head out into the neighborhood around St. Peter to sing Christmas Carols for our community.
On Sunday, December 22, at both 9:00 and 10:45 am, our regular Sunday morning services will feature a chamber orchestra and choir, bringing us the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah. Communion will also be celebrated in these services.
With special attention given to families with children, these two identical services will feature child-friendly songs, message, and visuals. Classic Christmas carols included.
December 24, 6:30 pm – Contemporary Candlelight Service
For those who look forward to a candlelight service without staying up so late, this communion service will be filled with light!
December 24, 11:00 pm – Traditional Candlelight Service
A longstanding tradition for many, this communion service will feature familiar carols and candlelight.
Wednesday, December 25, 10:00 am – Celebrate the birth of Jesus at this festive communion service.
