Here are the projects we have so far:

  • WARM HEARTS BLOOD DRIVE Be Someone’s Hero: Donate blood and save lives. Sunday, August 30, 8:00am-Noon, in the Life Center. Walk-ins are welcome, but those with appointments get reserved beds. You can also sign up at www.heartlandbc.org. Receive a $5 Target gift card as a thank you! Project Coordinators: Erin Robinson and Jen Koclanis.    Register Now
  • RUN & FUN – Run the race or lend a hand at the Northwest Compass 5K Run for Everyday Champions. Saturday, August 29 at Lions Memorial Park, Mt. Prospect. 5K Run at 8:30am/Kid’s Dash at 9:00am. Help needed in various areas. Click Here for times and details. After initial sign-up, you will receive instructions on registering for your area of choice. Northwest Compass, an organization we’ve helped in 2 earlier BDOS, helps families in crisis. – (CANCELLED)
  • PACK RATS – Pack meals for Feed My Starving Children for sending overseas at the Schaumburg location, 1072 National Parkway. Label bags, fill and weigh bags or pack bags in boxes and move them to storage. Choose from 6 time slots. Friday, August 28: 6:00-7:30pm and 8:00-9:30pm. Saturday, August 29: 9:00-11:00am, 11:30-1:30pm, 4:30-6:30pm, and 7:00-9:00pm. Sign up early!  Reserved spaces that have not been filled by August 21 will be released to the public.  If you sign up after 8/21, we cannot guarantee a space.  Project Coordinators: Melissa Gilland and Melissa Newkirk.   (Registration is CLOSED)
  • COMMUNITY THREADS – Lend a hand at Community Threads, our upscale resale shop, at our new location at 250 W. Rand Road in Arlington Heights. Help sort clothes, bag purchases, greet, clean furniture or price items. Friday, August 28, 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday, August 29, 10:00am-1:00pm and 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Ages 10 and up; ages 10-15 must be with an adult on a 2/1 ratio. Project Coordinator: Mary Mayo.     (Registration is CLOSED)
  • NEIGHBORHOOD FOOD DRIVE – Distribute flyers to homes around the church. The flyers will ask people to leave a bag of food out on Friday, September 4, when members of our Youth Group will pick up the food and take it to the Wheeling Food Pantry. Flyers can be distributed any time August 24-30. Great family activity! Project Coordinator: Pastor Roggow.  – (Registration is CLOSED)
  • JESUS TIME!: Join Pastor Klopke for Bible story, singing and prayer time for resident adults with disabilities. At Clearbrook, 3201 Campbell Street, in Rolling Meadows. Sunday, August 30, 1:30-2:30pm. Ages 6 and up. Max. 15.  Project Coordinator: Pastor Klopke. Register Now
  • THRIVENT BUILDS: Habitat for Humanity 3-Day Blitz work project. Help work on various projects at a home in Carpentersville. Thursday – August 27, Friday-August 28 and Saturday-August 29 from 8:30am-4:00pm. Skilled and unskilled volunteers can help; age 16 and up (ages 16-17 must be accompanied by a parent). Max. 10 per day. Can carpool from church. Project Coordinator: Mike Kamperschroer.    (Registration is CLOSED)
  • CARD PARTY: Make caring cards for Phil’s Friends, USA Troops, Firefighters and Police. Provide hope and support for people fighting cancer and thank and support our service workers. Sunday, August 30, 10:00am-1:00pm, in the small gym. All ages and abilities. Great for families. Project Coordinator: Karen Kogler. Register Now
  • PROJECT LINUS: “No Sew” fleece security blankets for critically ill children. Bring a good pair of fabric scissors if you have one for cutting fringe. No sewing skills needed; just tie a simple knot. Sunday, August 30, 10:00am-1:00pm, in the small gym Children welcome. Project Coordinator: Isabel Peterson. Register Now
